Priorities

Our Plan

A focused approach towards immediate safety, clear access to support, and long-term provision.

1. Support

Keep children safe — now

More than 3,000 children across North East London live with life-limiting and complex conditions. The the closure of Richard House has put many of them at risk. ELCCH will restore coordinated, safeguarding-grade support so children are safe and families are stabilised.

2. Access

One clear front door that works

Families are currently left to chase multiple services, often in crisis. ELCCH will provide one clear front door — one number, one route, and real navigation — where parents are heard, triaged, and actively supported, with no wrong door and no dead ends.

3. Future

A bridge to lasting provision

ELCCH will track unmet need, turn lived experience into evidence, and build a credible pathway toward sustainable community hospice and respite care — ensuring provision is consistent, trusted, and does not disappear again.

What is the East London Children’s Community Hospice?

We are a community-based hospice supporting children with life-limiting and complex conditions, and the families who care for them, across East London.

Who is the hospice for?

Children and young people with complex medical needs, disabilities, or life-limiting conditions — and their parents, carers, and wider families.

What kind of support will you offer?

Support will grow over time and include family support, peer connection, wellbeing activities, advocacy, and safe community spaces for children and parents.

Is this an inpatient hospice or hospital?

No. We are a community hospice, rooted in local spaces and relationships, supporting families where they are.

When are you opening?

We are beginning with a community launch and phased activities, with services developing as the community grows with us.

How can the wider community support this work?

By spreading the word, volunteering, partnering with us, and supporting future fundraising and community efforts.

Still have questions?

We're here to help and happy to talk.
